The Academy

Ambassadors Academy

For the last 15 years, Ambassadors Football has run an internship training over 60 individuals to effectively use football as a way of sharing Jesus. Check out Stevie’s story of how the internship made a difference in his life in the videos above.

The programme is designed to develop you in 3 areas –

    1. Discipleship: Through mentoring relationships you will challenged to go deeper and grow stronger in your faith.
    2. Evangelism: Explore how to effectively share your faith through the vehicle of sport.
    3. Leadership: You will become a better leader as you gain football coaching qualifications, learn how to control a group and train them in football.

Name: Alex
Based: London
Football Team: Everton

I absolutely love football! I want to improve as a coach/leader of young people. I have already had so many opportunities through Ambassadors to lead young people It has been really fun and rewarding!

It’s clear God has positioned me here in East London. I would appreciate prayer for more meaningful conversations with the young people about their faith.

Name: Matthew-Luke
Based: Manchester
Football Team: Burnley

I’ve joined the academy as I am extremely passionate about spreading God’s love and football and believe that the work Ambassadors does helps to combine both of these and can also help me gain good experience in both.

I’m hoping to gain experience in all aspects of christian youth and communities work whilst also developing my coaching skills in a way that is useful to God.

“My year with Ambassadors gave me the opportunity to use my love of football to share the word of God. It helped me grow both as a Christian and as an individual. The internship was a great look into the world of sports missions and how God can use sport to reach people.” Ex-intern Helena, Health Mentor

“The internship has given me the opportunity to explore, train and learn how football can effectively be used to serve communities and transform lives whilst also enabling me to grow in my own personal walk with God” Ex intern James Yielder, Youth Worker

How The Academy Works

You will be delivering football outreach in a number of different settings. These projects will make up part of your weekly schedule and will range from children & youth football, mentoring, fathers’ football, playing and coaching, right through to homeless football outreach. You will be able to build relationships with our participants over the course of the internship as well as assisting one-off events such as camps, tournaments and fundraisers.

All of our projects support local church outreach, so it is really important that throughout the year you are part of one. You will be placed in a local church where part of your weekly activities will be to serve that church.
